Local producers to adhere to sea worm jelly quality standards
Health officials recently announced that a raft of suggested standards governing the production and packaging of sea worm jelly is now open to public comment.
The Xiamen Time-honored Brands Association drafted the proposal, which covers raw materials, labeling and signage, packaging, transportation, storage and shelf life.
The standards include a testing program covering physical and chemical inspections to regulate food additives and microbial limits. When the standards are finalized, nine sea worm jelly workshops in Xiamen have committed to adhere to the voluntary standards.
